The Showmen's Guild Service of Remembrance

The Showmen’s Guild Service of Remembrance will take place at the National Memorial Arboretum, on Sunday 17th November 2024.

All are welcome:
1. However, please let your Section know if you are coming so that we have an idea how many guests to expect.
2. The timing is planned to be after many of the Bonfire Fairs and is on the Sunday following the Cenotaph March Past in London (that is being organised separately);
3. It is also arranged to fit in with the Guild Section’s AGMs;

The timing of events is set out below, (with a contingency plan in the event of bad weather):

11.00AM:
Arrival of Officials; Chaplain & Delegates (variously with wreaths brought with them)

11.15-11.40AM:
Assembly in open café area (beyond main reception);
Delegates may purchase refreshments from café

11.40AM:
Walking with wreaths to Showmen’s Guild Memorial
(Buggy available for guests with mobility needs)
Some delegates may go straight to the Showmen’s Guild memorial individually.

12 Noon:
Showmen’s Guild Memorial Service commences;

12.30PM:
Service ends / delegates return to Aspects banqueting hall for refreshments.
Officials make short speeches.

14.30PM:
Event ends / Delegates depart

Wet weather plan:
If there is very wet weather / flooding (as occurred in 2019) We would alternatively hold the Showmen’s Guild Remembrance Service in the Millennium Chapel with the same timings.
The post-Service Refreshments follow as above.
