BTA reveals £4.45 billion loss to UK GDP

The Business Travel Association (BTA), has revealed the UK has lost £4.45 billion in GDP last week due to the decline of business travel trips following Covid-19*.

Data from Travelogix shows that in the fourth week of July 2021, international business travel trips from the UK dropped by 86.27% from 2019 pre-pandemic levels – with a reduction of 338,310 business trips in the past week.

The data shows travel restrictions to:

• France has cost UK GDP £547 million this week,
• USA has cost UK GDP £528 million this week,
• Germany has cost UK GDP £485 million this week, and
• Spain has cost UK GDP £363 million this week

all from the decline of business travel trips.
