“If it was easy, everyone would be doing it…”

As the spring season emerges, I look back at what Events Apprenticeships has achieved over the last 18 months and I feel proud and energized.

It hasn't been easy and there’s along way to go. But, as my father used to say, "if it was easy, everyone would do it. Only those with stamina and commitment will succeed".

So, a big thank you to everyone from across our industry who has stepped up, offered support and got involved, particularly our Advisory Board members, you are amazing.

Through Events Apprenticeships, we are raising awareness of the value the apprenticeship scheme offers and what it can add to your business, particularly, how the program works and sharing success stories so businesses can hear it first hand from industry peers.

For the past 12 months we’ve focused on helping employers understand how apprenticeships work, the process’s and how to access funding - thus creating the demand, whilst we’ll continue to do this, we will begin to introduce workshops for companies who have now started on the journey

We are starting to redirect our efforts by connecting with influencers and educators, along with potential apprentices, to educate them about the events industry and the career opportunities available. This initiative aims to initiate the process of building a pipeline for the next generation of event professionals.

Collaboration with IfATE on behalf of the industry has given us the voice and the channel for reviewing, developing, and advancing apprenticeships throughout the sector - have you read about our first line security ‘marbled’ apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are a great platform for attracting, developing and retaining talent. And in doing so, making our businesses and our industry stronger, more diverse and more sustainable for the future.

WHAT’S NEW

Welcome Kaylie and Katie…

We’re excited to welcome two new members of our the Events Apprenticeships Advisory Board:

Kaylie Hodges, Events Officer, NASUWT and Katie Brown, Events Manager, Birmingham University.

We can’t wait to work with both Kaylie and Katie on growing the Events Apprenticeships Programme within their respective roles.

Event Apprenticeships branching out to incorporate events security

In a bid to ensure Event Apprenticeships encompass the full spectrum of the industry, a new initiative has been announced aimed at expanding opportunities beyond the conventional Event Assistant route.

Fully funded training costs for new apprentices hired by SMEs

The Government will fully fund apprenticeships in small businesses from 1st April by paying the full cost of training for anyone up to the age of 21 - reducing costs and burdens for businesses and delivering more opportunities for young people to kick start their careers.

Whether you’re an ambitious employer seeking top-tier talent or a prospective apprentice ready to embark on an exciting career journey, our upcoming events across London, Manchester and Birmingham are tailored just for you.

Case study: Event Apprenticeships growing new talent

Congratulations to Maisy Phillips and Pippa Dorney of ODI (policy think tank) and Goose & Berry (event catering) for achieving a Distinction in the end point assessment of their Event Assistant Apprenticeships.

Their grades are not only a tribute to their diligent work but to the wonderfully supportive employers who have mentored them through the course.

Maisy and Pippa show how apprenticeships can be so effective across the events industry, in this case for a client side organisation and firm within the supply chain.
