The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Events was officially reconstituted during a meeting in Parliament on 17 December 2024.

Shaun Davies, Member of Parliament (MP) for Telford was elected as chair alongside three other newly elected officers – Jack Rankin, Conservative MP for Windsor, Tom Gordon, Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, and Chris Webb, labour MP for Blackpool South.

The 11-strong committee of MPs further includes Rachel Taylor, Labour MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, Martin Rhodes, Labour MP for Glasgow North, Polly Billington, Labour MP for East Thanet, Barry Gardiner, Labour MP for Brent West, James Asser, Labour MP for West Ham and Beckton, Kim Johnson, Labour MP for Liverpool Riverside, and Jessica Morden, Labour MP for Newport East.

The APPG’s secretariat and special advisor is The Business of Events, an advocacy network and Think Tank managed by Davies Tanner.

Robert Wright, managing director of Davies Tanner said: “We will now submit the necessary paperwork to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, which needs to be done within the next 28 days, and begin planning the activities of the new APPG, which will focus on helping to grow the UK event economy.”

Following a change in parliamentary rules, The Business of Events is now able to offer APPG for Events membership to UK-based organisations and individuals within the exhibitions and events sector.

Membership costs £1,500(+VAT) whereby UK-based organisations are then invited to nominate a senior representative, offering them the opportunity to engage directly with MPs and influence APPG policy decisions. Sponsorship of the Group is also available at £5,000(+VAT).
