The National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) is encouraging event professionals across the industry to support a government petition concerned with offering economic assistance to the events community during the COVID-19 issue.
The association is sharing details of the petition with its community and encouraging ‘cross-industry support’ for the initiative to reach the 100,000 signatures needed for the subject to be discussed in the House of Lords. NOEA has already shared advice and discussion around the potential threat of the pandemic to the events industry and is working with government to gain economic support where required.
Commenting on the issues, NOEA President Tom Clements said: “For those that remember the dark days of the foot and mouth crisis, we all know just how damaging these issues can be, and the level of threat we’re looking at for small businesses, individuals and entire event brands. This time around we’re more prepared, we have an enabled community, but we need a measured response from government and any economic support they can give us. If everyone could share the petition, we can get it up the agenda quickly.”
NOEA has released details of the petition on its website, but is encouraging industry professionals to sign the petition here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/301186
Then wording for the petition is as follows:
Government to offer economic assistance to the events industry during COVID-19
For the UK government to provide economic assistance to businesses and staff employed in the events industry, who are suffering unforeseen financial challenges that could have a profound effect on hundreds of thousands of people employed in the sector.
