APPG for Events

The re-established All Party Parliamentary Group for the UK Events Industry has now been formally registered with the remit “To represent the UK events industry in Parliament; to highlight the value of the industry, engage with politicians and industry representatives, and to ensure that the UK benefits from the success of large, internationally prominent events”.

The initial membership is:

JAMES HEAPPEY MP – CHAIR, OFFICER (Conservative-Wells)

CHRIS HEATON HARRIS MP – OFFICER (Conservative – Daventry)

CHRIS MATHESON MP – OFFICER (Labour-Chester)

CHRIS DAVIES MP – OFFICER (Conservative – Brecon & Radnorshire)

STEPHEN MCPARTLAND MP ((Conservative – Stevenage)

BILL ESTERSON MP (Labour – Sefton)

SHARON HODGSON MP (Labour – Washington & Sunderlsand West)

KIT MALTHOUSE MP (Conservative – North West Hampshire)

MARK PAWSEY MP (Conservative – Rugby)

It is expected that the Group’s membership will be extended during the course of this parliament and it is hoped that Partners will encourage their members to influence their local constituency MPs to join. It would also be very beneficial if MPs representing key event destinations and locations where event businesses are situated could be persuaded to join the Group.

Any interest in joining should be referred to James Heappey’s Parliamentary Researcher, Rosemary Nagle at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

A programme of activity for the Group is to be developed which will include briefings on industry issues and invitations to industry events.
