EIB - Industry leaders express urgency about naming a reopening date to Minister

At the most recent Senior Events Industry Leaders Panel held with the Minister of Tourism, Nigel Huddleston MP, industry leaders voiced their concerns, about the critical importance of a date for reopening to be given, if further damage to an already fragile Industry was to be avoided. Industry leaders said a go date was essential as for many events, at least eight to twelve weeks, was necessary for planning purposes.

EIB continues to press for sustained support

At the last meeting of the Events Industry Board (EIB), members continued to press for more support as they reviewed measures for the longer term recovery of the Industry.

Whilst welcoming the extension to the furlough scheme, members urged the government to extend the scheme further and offer help to many of the Industry’s smaller businesses that were often struggling to access government programmes.

Events Industry Board Meets Minister to Discuss COVID-19 Impact and a Recovery Plan

The Events Industry Board (EIB), the government’s advisory body to help improve and promote the UK’s Events sector held a conference call with Nigel Huddleston, the Minister for Sport, Tourism & Heritage on the 30th March, to discuss the impact of COVID-19 and to start considering a recovery plan.

Events Industry Board Holds Online Leaders Panel with Tourism Minister

Over twenty CEOs from many of the UK’s leading destinations, event venues and creative agencies met online last week as part of the UK Events Industry Board’s Leaders Panel to discuss the government’s support for the UK’s £70bn business events sector with Minister for Sport, Tourism and Heritage, Nigel Huddleston MP.
