Some 60% of the UK’s event industry’s supplier base is facing collapse within three months, unless event businesses receive further support from the Government, according to an on-line survey carried out by the Events Industry Forum (EIF) and Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) and co-ordinated by the Production Services Association (PSA) between 3-7th April, 2020. 6% of those businesses say they are unlikely to survive until the end of April!
LGA has advised Local Authorities that Conference and Exhibitions premises will be included in the Government's business rate relief scheme. Revised guidance available at https://local.gov.uk/coronavirus-business-rates-relief-hospitality-and-leisure-sector
DEADLINE 7th APRIL at 17:00 - Please encourage your members who are supply chain services providers to complete this survey looking at measuring the impact of government and other support mechanisms on the events supply chain. The questions have been designed to give DCMS the data needed to help get the support needed.
The Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) has held an online meeting of its partners and representatives from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) to share feedback and issues surrounding COVID-19 and to look at practical ways in which the government can continue to support the UK’s £70bn business events sector during the current COVID-19 pandemic, and help aid its recovery.
VisitBritain/VisitEngland has modified and reopened their tracker survey (here), they will be conducting it regularly to monitor the impact on all aspects of the UK tourism industry. The results will provide impact data to brief Ministers, the Government and COBR to help support the industry through these challenging times.
