The Business of Events (TBOE) has today announced that its London and Scotland events, which were postponed due to the early general election, will now take place on the 17th and 24th March 2020.
The TBOE Senior Leadership Forum and Reception, which has been rescheduled for the 17th March 2020, will be held at The Mermaid London and will be followed by the Senior Leadership Dinner at 10 – 11 Carlton House Terrace, the home of The British Academy, in partnership with Searcys. While this will obviously be used to inform election candidates, its main use will be to lobby the new Government on what policies it needs to adopt to support the UK tourism industry over the period of the next Parliament. The document comprises 12 key policies to support all parts of the sector that cover broad issues ranging from Immigration and sustainability through to developing strategies for various components of the industry, addressing taxation issues and ensuring customer safety.

Partnership, collaboration and inspiring confidence were just some of the key themes emerging from The Business of Events Wales held this week at the newly-opened International Convention Centre Wales in Newport.
A packed audience comprising Welsh venues, products, hotels, destinations and event planners heard from a wide range of expert speakers who presented on topics as diverse as developing a business events sector strategy to the emerging opportunities to further build Wales as a business events destination.
TBOE spokesperson - “Given that the Parliament voted in favour of an early general election, which will take place on 12th December 2019, and as a result, Parliament will now likely be dissolved on 6th November, after discussions with colleagues in Westminster, we have taken the decision to move the dates of the London events to January 2020. This will include the Senior Leadership Forum, Parliamentary Debate and Senior Leadership Dinner. The events planned for Wales, Scotland and Barcelona will still take place as planned.
While this is obviously disappointing for those who were planning to attend, it’s obviously important that we are able to have the relevant people there from both government and Parliament, and therefore with an election scheduled for around those dates, this simply wouldn’t be possible. We will confirm details of the new dates in the coming days.”
