On behalf of the tourism industry, VisitBritain have sent a paper to the Cabinet Office detailing how government can help the tourism industry recover from COVID-19.
The Meetings Industry Association’s (mia) latest research has revealed the majority (82%) of UK venues could operate with social distancing measures but will require continued government support.
A group of associations are calling for everyone in the events and entertainment industry to petition their local MPs for more Government support to safeguard the future of businesses and livelihoods through the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Hospitality, travel and events sector businesses, including all our members and suppliers, need a special extension of the furlough scheme beyond June or whenever the nationwide scheme ends.” says Lex Butler, “because this industry will be probably one of the last to be fully up and running again once social distancing regulations are relaxed and it will suffer greatly for some time.”
