GTMC signs collaboration agreement with social enterprise Women in Travel to support women empowerment in the business travel industry

The GTMC has signed a collaboration agreement with social enterprise Women in Travel (cic), which is dedicated to empowering women through employability and entrepreneurship in Travel, Tourism Hospitality and Events.

The collaboration is aimed at supporting the work of Women in Travel by encouraging GTMC’s TMC members to access the services offered by the social enterprise particularly in the following areas:

  • Women Returners: employability and recruitment services aimed at selecting, training and matching with suitable employers marginalised women who are physically and mentally ready to re-engage with the economy;
  • Training and development around employability; female leadership; coaching and mentoring;
  •  Other events; conferences or workshops focused on empowering women to engage with the sector.

GTMC - IHG joins the GTMC as its latest industry partner

The GTMC today welcomes its latest industry partner, IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s largest hotel groups with more than 840,000 rooms in 5,600 hotels worldwide and an enviable pipeline of over 1,900 additional hotels.

IHG is a global organisation with a broad portfolio of hotel brands that appeal to all business travellers, domestically and globally. IHG’s latest addition to its enviable portfolio was the acquisition in February 2019 of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, adding 18 hotels (1,469 rooms) to its system and 17 hotels to its development pipeline.

Grant applications re-open for VisitBritain’s Business Events Growth Programme, supporting the growth of international business events in the UK.

Following a successful three years, VisitBritain is once again dedicating funds to support development of international business events in the UK.

Applications for grants have officially re-opened for VisitBritain’s Business Events Growth Programme. This follows a successful year which saw more than £173,000 of funding awarded to support UK destinations and venues in securing new international business events and grow the value of existing events through increased international delegate attendance.

Latest bookings data from London’s largest conference venue, ExCeL London, shows that London remains a hot spot for European event and conference planners, with a 25% uplift in bookings from European clients so far this year.

GTMC - Business Travel is Booming in Belfast

Business leaders across Northern Ireland have joined George Best Belfast City Airport to hear about the growth and importance of business travel to and from Belfast.

Hosted in partnership with the GTMC (Guild of Travel Management Companies) at the Merchant Hotel, the event focused on how business travel to and from Northern Ireland acts as a catalyst for economic development, along with the opportunities this brings for those in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
