VisitBritain announces flagship business event ‘MeetGB’ to be held at ICC Wales in 2020

VisitBritain has announced that its flagship annual Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) event MeetGB is being held at the Celtic Manor Resort and the recently opened International Convention Centre (ICC) in Wales in April 2020.

Registration for the event is also now open for international MICE buyers and UK business event suppliers.

MeetGB, being held from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 April 2020, is set to host up to 90 international buyers from Europe and North America who will meet and do business with 80 industry suppliers from venues, hotels, destinations and incentive experiences across the UK.

Government Brexit Business Readiness Bulletin

Some 'Get Ready for Brexit' guidelines have been issued by the Government, including a booklet (and presentation slides), a cheklist and specific guidelines for UK Traders, Chemicals Exporters, Farmers and Livestock Exporters and Hauliers and Commercial Drivers. It also includes a fact sheet on Economic Operator Registration and Identification Mythbuster.

Events Industry Forum invites applications for grants

The Event Industry Forum is inviting applications for grants for projects that will benefit the events industry.

The Forum, which brings together 26 trade bodies and similar organisations from across the event industry, has funding available to support projects that will be of general benefit to the outdoor sector.

Since taking over publication of The Purple Guide from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) two years ago, the Forum has already provided over £70,000 in grants and support for projects to help the sector. It has also made a commitment to provide £5000 per annum to support event students attend industry conventions.

EVCOM - Charlotte Gentry Announced as EVCOM's New Chair

EVCOM is really excited to announce that Charlotte Gentry, CEO of Pure Events, will be the new chair of EVCOM, leading the newly elected board at a time of exciting change for EVCOM and across our industry.

Leigh Jagger, Interim CEO, says, “I can’t think of a better to person to lead the new EVCOM board, and ensure that this vital organisation represents and fights for the needs of its members, agencies and individuals alike.”

Charlotte adds, “I am really looking forward to working closely with Leigh and the EVCOM team on our upcoming events, as well as shaping EVCOM’s direction for the future. This is a really dynamic time to be working in our industry, as technology impacts the way we work, and new agency structures evolve. Chairing the EVCOM board is a chance to really make a difference to the people working in our industry. I can’t wait to get started.”

Charlotte will deliver her first speech as EVCOM’s chair at EVCOMference 2019 – The Fourth Industrial Revolution: Navigating the New Normal, and will also facilitate a thought-provoking corporate panel session giving top tips for working better with brand-focused clients.
