This report summarises the findings of an APPG inquiry into the global competitiveness of the UK events sector. It also makes a series of recommendations for actions by government (local and national),to ensure the continued growth and further development of the sector.

This report is based on research carried out among 34 destinations, conference centres and national tourism organisations globally, and includes comparisons with earlier research undertaken in 2010. It examines the staffing of ambassador programmes, budgets, targets, recruitment methods, the size of programmes, communications with ambassadors, the use of social media networks, the economic impact of ambassador programmes, and current and future trends.

The International Congress Calendar includes over 428,000 meetings and events organised or sponsored by Intergovernmental Organisations (IGOs) and International Nongovernmental Organisations (INGOs) working worldwide. The Calendar covers meetings staged from 1851 to 2030, over 10,000 of which are future meetings. Also included are national meetings with a large international participation.

This annual research provides statistics and trends for international organisations' events. The report includes the number of qualifying international meetings per country and per city; trends in participant numbers and meeting dates; top 10 ranking; five year preview of future top countries and cities where meetings are planned. Past editions of the report are also available at a reduced price in PDF format, going back to 2000.
